Duvets are, overall, thicker and warmer than comforters. The loft, or how full/fluffy the duvet is, will be determined by the materials used and how often you fluff it; both fill material and cover can add to its warmth. Comforters usually aren’t as thick as quilts, so they typically don’t provide the same level of warmth.
